uct Tai Chi CLUB: Where Harmony Flows and Minds Unwind

Founded by Dr. Michael Lan, a disciple of Dr. Lin Feng-Chao, our UCT Tai Chi Club in Cape Town has been a sanctuary for Tai Chi enthusiasts and seekers of holistic wellness. Guided by a lineage of dedicated coaches, including senior students of Dr. Lan, we’ve cultivated a vibrant community of Tai Chi practitioners, welcoming both UCT students and community members.

Tai Chi, known by various names like Tai Qi or taijiquan, transcends language barriers, inviting individuals on a profound journey of self-discovery and inner peace. Rooted in ancient Chinese tradition, our club offers more than just physical exercise; it’s a path to mental and spiritual well-being.

In the practice of Tai Chi, we embrace life as it is, adapting to its flow while finding harmony within ourselves. It’s a journey of overcoming the ego and discovering freedom from within. Through slow, precise movements characteristic of Yang style Tai Chi, we tap into the body’s natural potential, alleviating physical discomfort and aligning mind and body.

At our club, every practitioner’s journey is valued and unique. While the physical benefits of Tai Chi are subtle yet tangible, the internal rewards are profound and personal. Each individual grows at their own pace, guided by our supportive community and the timeless principles of Tai Chi.
